Shipping Interfaces ITP has developed several interfaces between Syteline and Kewill (formerly Evcor Systems) shipping and manifest packages. 2 kinds of interfaces are available: Batch - In this interface, Syteline shipping transactions are written to a un-processed shipping transaction batch file. The shipping operator then processes this batch file into the Kewill shipping system. Updated shipping information is then written to a processed shipping transaction batch file. The Shipping Interface Monitor program checks at pre-defined intervals for the availability of this file. When available, the processed shipping transactions are processed and the Syteline order header is updated with actual values such as freight and weight. A BOL is also created.
Real-Time - In this interface, basically the same thing occurs as in the Batch interface. The difference being that the Syteline shipping transactions are written to a table in a custom Progress database. This table is then accessed by the shipping operator using an ODBC connection. The processed shipping transaction are then written back to this custom table. Once again, the Syteline order header is updated and a BOL is created.
In both interfaces, a Shipping Inquiry is available to view the status of all shipments. International shipping documents such as a Customs Invoice, Nafta Report, and Shippers Export Declaration are printed automatically and are also available on demand. Credit Card Interfaces ITP has developed several interfaces between Syteline and SuperCharge from Intrix Systems Inc. 2 kinds of interfaces are available: Batch - In this interface, Syteline credit card order information is written to a table in a custom Progress database. At a pre-defined time, 8:00PM for example, a connection is established with the SuperCharge system. At that time, transactions are processed and are authorized or declined. After this step, SuperCharge then creates settlement transactions for the bank for all authorized transactions. Real-Time - In this interface, authorizations are done in real-time. The settlement process still typically occurs after hours.
In both interfaces, a Credit Card Inquiry and related reports are available to track the status of each transaction. A freight rating engine is also available that computes an estimated freight charge based on ship code, weight and zip code form Syteline. This is useful when doing real-time authorizations and estimated freight needs to be part of the authorization amount. The freight rating engine in only available if a shipping package is available that includes that functionality. |
